Yes. Rules can be established to ensure that time and expense entries comply with the requirements of your client’s mandates.
When a time or expense entry is entered, rules run automatically. When an entry is found that is in violation of those rules, the violation is flagged and visible on the 'Tasks' tab. Flagged entries may then be changed in order to comply with the rule, or they can be overridden and submitted to Juris as is (if the user has been granted rights to do so).
There are different types of Rules:
- Data Rule: A Date Rule can be used to make sure that entries using a particular date or date range are flagged.
- List Rule: A List Rule can be used to make sure that entries using certain codes are flagged.
- Numeric Rule: A Numeric Rule can be used to flag entries that contain certain numeric values.
- Text Rule: A Text Rule can be used to make sure that certain words or word combinations are flagged.
- Accounting Rule: An Accounting Rule can be used to make sure entries are within certain days of the Current Accounting Period or Current Accounting Year.
- Empty Field Rule: An Empty Field Rule can be used to make sure the entry has data in a required field that may not be enforced by Juris, such as Code1.
- Boolean Rule: A Boolean Rule can be used to make sure certain fields are flagged as they should be, such as the Billable Flag on a Time Entry should always be True.
- Rule Set: A Rule Set combines two or more of the above rule types. Rules are used when the criteria of 2 different rules must both be met before the entry is considered in violation of the rule.

- Regular Expression Rules: Regular Expression Rules are similar to Power Rules in that they are created by the Juris development team. Rules can be established using the Rule Designer (Tools > Rule Designer). When creating a rule, the Scope setting allows you to determine if the rule should apply firm-wide, or only to entries for select Clients, Matters, Timekeepers, etc.
