Using the Connection Type functions allow you to specify your current working environment. There are four settings that can be utilized:
- Auto Connect - The most flexible setting. Juris Suite evaluates the connection possibilities and selects the best one.
- Local Network - Used when Juris Suite clients can actively and constantly connect to the Juris database. All assigned functions are available.
-
Disconnected - Used for working off-site and disconnected from the Juris database. Time and Expense entries can still be performed. This setting is used on laptops that cannot always be connected to the Juris database. Once the PC can be connected to the Juris database again, a Cache Synchronization updates the database with the entered information.
The Disconnected type has limitations. Inquiry (Conflict & Client/Matter) and Summary information are not available.
-
Web Connect - Used when a Local Network is not available, but the Juris Suite client does have an Internet connection. Web Connect is setup in the Deployment Manager during installation. If you have any questions about setting up a Web Connection, contact Juris support.
To assist you in determining which Connection Type you have without expanding the Advanced features, the database icon next to the Company field of the login screen changes with each setting. Glasses indicates Auto Connect, Green Check mark indicates Local Network, Red minus sign indicates Disconnected, and the Globe indicates Web Connect.
The Cached Enabled area displays the On/Off toggle of the Cache function. The Time Interval setting is used to help with performance issues with slower networks. A higher number allows for a longer time period for the Juris Suite application to talk appropriately to the Juris database. These functions are also available in the Deployment Manager.
After you have logged into Juris Suite, you can also see the Cache status and Connection Type in the lower right hand corner of the application.
There are times when you have logged in to Juris Suite that Syncing the Cache is necessary. Click here to learn more about Synchronizing the Cache.
