One of the functions of the Metrics section in Business Intelligence is the ability to test/execute the Metrics. Executing the Metrics actively sends the query to the Juris database and returns the current value. This can be useful to quickly find out the value of important data as well as to verify the data is in the format needed. Remember that Metrics can be used in Calculations, KPIs and other Business Intelligence Visualizers. To execute a Metric, perform the following:
- Select a Metric from the Metrics section. This can be a pre-defined Metric or one that you have created. For the purposes of this example, a pre-defined Metric is used, FeesReceivedPerMatter.
Reviewing the information, parameters, and SQL pane assists in understand where the information is retrieved from the Juris database as well as how it is displayed. This particular Metric contains the Parameters, BeginDate and EndDate.
- Click the Execute button on the Tools ribbon.
- Since this Metric contains Parameters in the form of BeginDate and EndDate, you will be prompted to enter the dates. For this exercise enter a range of dates that includes several months. See
