A Metric is a particular value located in the database. It can be a numeric value, a date, a percentage, or a string. An example would be Timekeeper. When using the Metric Visualizer, it is best to be familiar with the Metrics available, both Juris and Custom to make the Visualizer easier to create.
The exercises used are based on a testing database. You will need to adjust your values of your entries (when applicable) to accommodate the data in your database. Results displayed will differ than those in the exercises.
- Select the appropriate Visualizer with the left mouse click and drag it to the desired location on the DisplayGrid. You will see a small plus sign next to your cursor when dragging the Visualizer. For this example, the first Visualizer is Metric.
-
The Visualizer will appear with sizing squares. The sizing squares allow you to adjust the size of the Visualizer. Select the square and drag to the appropriate size.
The center sizing square is used to move the entire Visualizer around on the DesignerGrid. The cursor will turn to a 4-way arrow.
-
After you have the Visualizer in the appropriate location, you can utilize the Properties area to make changes to the Metric. You can make changes to the following:
- Font
- Background Color - Allows you to change the Background color against the Font. Leave the default, Transparent.
- Color - Allows you to change the actual Font color. Set to black.
-
Font -Allows you to change the Font type. Set to MS Sans Serif, Size 20.
You can access extended Font properties by clicking the Plus sign next to the Font heading.

Metric
The Metric properties contain the fields to represent the actual data in Metric. To make adjustment to the Metric properties, perform the following:
- Select the appropriate Format. For this example we will choose Number.
- Click the ellipses button in the Metric field and select the appropriate Metric. For this example select CountofActiveClients. To select the Metric, double-click the entry.
- Click the ellipses button in the Parameters field to make any edits. For this exercise, use the value {Last Day of this Month}. This will parse the Metric with the value. The value will change as each month changes, assuming that the number of Active Clients changes.
- Click the Save button on the Dashboard tool ribbon.
- When you have completed the Properties, click the Preview tab.
