Use the Attachments tab to add a note, existing file, or scanned image to an expense entry in Draft status.
To add an attachment, select the correct expense entry, open the Attachments tab, and choose the type of attachment you want to add:
- Add Note: Adds a simple text note.
- Add File: Adds an existing document or image file.
- Scan: Scans a physical receipt or document and adds it as an attachment.
Only expense entries in Draft status can have attachments added.
Before you begin
Review the following before adding an attachment:
- Verify that the correct expense entry is selected.
- Confirm that the entry status is Draft in the Entry Status column.
- To add a scanned attachment, you must have a scanner available.
Open the Attachments tab

Select the expense entry that should receive the attachment.
The selected entry is highlighted.

Select the Attachments tab at the bottom of the interface.

Any existing attachments are displayed. Attachment options appear on the right side of the tab.
- Select one of the following options:
Add a note attachment
Use Add Note to create a simple text note attachment for the expense entry.

Select Add Note.
The Add Note dialog box opens.

In the Subject box, enter a brief title for the note.
This text appears below the icon that represents the note on the Attachments tab.
- In the large text box, enter the body or details of the note.
- Select OK.
The note is added to the Attachments tab.
Add a file attachment
Use Add File to attach an existing document or image file to the expense entry.

Select Add File.
The Open dialog box appears.
- Navigate to the location of the file.

Select the file.
- Select Open.
The file is added to the Attachments tab.
Add a scanned attachment
Use Scan to scan a physical expense receipt or document and add it as an electronic attachment.
- Select Scan.
- Scan the document.
- Specify a name for the file created from the scan.
- Select Save.
The scanned file is added to the Attachments tab with the other attached files.
