Extended Functionality

When you have the layout completed, the controls and canvas have extended functionality. Two types of extended functionality exist:

  1. When you are in the edit or customization mode.

  2. Saved mode.

    Extended functionality will vary by the control and mode you are in.

Customized Mode

To access the Customize mode of a layout you can either right click in the canvas area or use the Customize Layout button on the File tool ribbon.

When you are in Customize mode, many of the tool ribbon functions are inaccessible. Right-click on the canvas or control to access the following:

  • Hide Customization Form - places the mode back to normal and removes the Control Dialogue.
  • Reset Layout - Clears the canvas of any added controls.
  • Hide/Show Text - Toggles the text header above a control. Also enables the Rename function.
  • Hide Item - Removes the control from view.
  • Group/Ungroup - Allows you to create a grouping of controls. After selecting Group, the Create Tabbed function comes available. This allows you to create a tabbed display of the controls that are grouped enabling you to quickly select the next control. You can also Un-group tabs.
  • Tabbed Group - Function available after the Group function is engaged. Allows you to create and name tabs in the same area and add controls to each tab.

  • Create Empty Space Item - Provides a space holder for a control.
  • Size Constraints - Allows you to manipulate the sizing of the control. Choices are the following:
    • Reset to default - reverts control back to original size.
    • Free Sizing - Allows you to change both height and width of a control.
    • Lock Size - Keeps the control from being resized.
    • Lock Width - Prevents changing the control width.
    • Lock Height - Prevents changing the control height.

Layout Tree View

An alternative way to make changes to control arrangement is to use the Layout Tree View. It is located on the Customization control window. To make changes, click and drag an item to a different location. The canvas will reflect the changes made. The two arrow buttons function as Undo and Redo.

Saved Mode

When the layout is completed and has been saved, you can access certain features of the control. The View Options Tool Ribbon becomes available allowing you to make changes. You can also access them by right-clicking on the control. Remember that not all controls have the same feature availability. Listed below are the options available.

Graphics Options 

  • Settings Tab
    • Chart Options - Color, Scale, Legend Visibility
    • Labels - XAxis, YAxis, and ZAxis format and visibility
    • Orientation - Perspective, X, Y and ZAxis Rotation
  • Chart Properties Tab
    • Provides sliding tool for incrementally moving Scale, Perspective, X, Y and Z Rotation.

Show Grid - Toggles the grid view of a control. It is also available by right-clicking on the control.

Show Pie-Chart - Toggles Pie Chart view of a control. It is also available by right-clicking on the control.

Show Bar- Chart - Toggles Bar Chart View of a control.It is also available by right-clicking on the control.

Show Line-Chart - Toggles Line Chart (if available).

Print Chart - Right-click to access. Select the default printer to print the Chart in the control.

Print Grid - Right-click to access. Select the default printer to Print the Grid in the control.
