The Designer is the area where Dashboards are created and organized. Dashboards are also published from Designer function.
Accessing Designer
Accessing the Designer is accomplished by clicking on the Designer node in Business Intelligence.
The default view displays a large Display Grid. This is part of the Layout view. The Layout Tab provides the following functions:
- Organizing the Dashboards - Shows Dashboards in Progress and those Published.
- Access to the Properties of a Visualizer - Properties allow you to make changes to the Visualizer's aspects for display and function.
- Access to Visualizers - Allows you to drag and drop Visualizers to the display grid.
- Access of the Overview node - Show a small scale of the whole Dashboard design.
- Tool Ribbon Functions - The ability to Create, Edit, Delete, Assign Teams, Export, Import and Publish Dashboards
The Preview Tab complements the Layout Tab, by allowing you to quickly view your process when creating a Dashboard. The Preview tab displays the Dashboard just like it would appear when published, viewed through the browser. This is especially helpful for making sure the look and feel of the Dashboard is what you want to convey. Click on the Preview tab to reveal the results of the Dashboard display.
