When you first launch Business Intelligence, the default function is the Viewer. The purpose of the Viewer is to display Published Dashboards. It is a browser with some simple functionality. It is reading the information placed on the Dashboard web site. If you are not on the Viewer node and want to return to it, perform the following:
- Click on the Viewer link in the Viewer Node.
- The Viewer link is the top level and will default to the Dashboard that is at the top of the list. You can click on the links to different Dashboards to view them.
- When you click on the links, the browser area reflects the changes.
Within the display area, there is other functionality. Depending on the Dashboard, there may be graphs, gauges, links to reports, and alerts. You can use your mouse cursor and hover over any of the elements of the Dashboard and get a view of the parameters used for that Visualizer.
Pages
The Dashboard you are viewing may have several pages. They are represented as tabs. They help keep Dashboards organized so that similar performances or measurements can be grouped together on the same page. Click on the tabs to reveal the Dashboards on that page.
There are three Refresh buttons located in the ribbon area.
- Refresh Viewer refreshes the viewer only.
- Refresh Current Dashboard Page refreshes the current dashboard page with the latest data directly from the database and updates the Rapid Access Data.
- Refresh Current Dashboard refreshes all pages with the latest data directly from the database and updates the Rapid Access Data.
There is a Properties link on a Dashboard page allows you to view the parameters that comprise the Visualizers. By clicking the on the link, you can bring up the fields allowing you to make changes to the parameters associated with the Dashboard Visualizers. The parameters can vary based on what metrics, queries and visualizers are being used. This a helpful tool to allow you to choose specific date ranges, personnel, practice classes, etc.
After you have made any changes, click the Submit button. The page will refresh and display the data based on the selections you have chosen.
If you want to log out of the Dashboard page, click the Log Out link.
If you have logged out or are accessing the Dashboard site remotely, you will need to enter your credentials to log in. Select the Company if there is more than one. Enter your User Name and Password. Click the Log In button.
