The AND NOT operator is used to find instances when a particular item is not present within a file record. If it was known that there was a certain item that you wanted to omit, the AND NOT command could be added to the search. For example, the search:
Anderson and not Flanders
Would return the results:
John Anderson
Anderson, John
John T. Anderson
and would omit the item:
Anderson, Flanders & John, LLP.
