Enter words to be searched for in the Keywords field, then click the search button. Searches can be performed using several methods:
- BASIC SEARCH: Enter a name or phrase to return matches if any items in phrase exist.
- STRING SEARCH: A name or phrase enclosed in double-quotations “” will search for occurrences of that exact name or phrase.
- WILD CARD character used to substitute for unknown information. A question mark (?) is a substitute for one unknown character and an asterisk (*) can be used to substitute for one or more unknown characters. SEARCH: Use the ? as a single-character wild card; use the * as a multi-character wild card when you are unsure of exact spelling or to return matches on multiple spellings.
- SPECIAL CHARACTERS: Symbols (such as #, &, @) and punctuation may be searched.
- SINGLE CHARACTERS: Single characters may be searched when used in a singular sense.
- DATE SEARCH: Information stored in date format may be searched.
Any of the above search types may be combined and nested for more powerful searches using the operators AND, OR & AND NOT.
All the above methods will also search previous saved or retained conflict searches. You can manually save a search and the results as well as have it automatically archive previously run searches. Be sure to review the Settings area to make sure you're taking advantage of this feature.
